The Fender Custom Shop Event at Winter NAMM is our favourite event of the year. We get to hand select some amazing instruments and this year was our best yet!
This instantly caught our eye and has ALL the things we love. Custom Colour, unique features, great playability and AMAZING tone.
This NAMM Limited instrument is a 1964 Stratocaster Relic in Candy Apple Red OVER Red Sparkle. We have never seen this colour mix before. The guitar was finished in a deep red sparkle, then painted over in Candy Apple Red, then relic’d to expose the original finish to an incredible effect.
The body is Alder. The neck is perfectly QuarterSawn Maple with a ‘round lam’ maple fretboard. Rare but not unheard-of on ’64’s. The Neck is a ’63 Strat shape. Small and comfy at the 1st position and thickens up toward the 12th. VERY playable.
The tone comes from hand wound ’64 Custom Shop Strat pickups. The guitar is thick and beefy sounding and really fills the room with sound. Other custom tweaks are a Greasebucket tone circuit and a Strat Blender circuit for a staggering array of usable tones.
This stunner is one of the coolest pieces we have gotten.
